The third graders in Miss Kill's class at WCA North have been learning about maps. Some things that they have been learning within this map unit are the compass rose, cardinal directions (north, east, south, west), a map key, title, and scale. Pictured are the students doing a fun holiday themed project. Each group created their own map of Santa’s Village. They had to include Santa’s house, a reindeer barn, Santa’s Bakeshop, the Candy Shop, Santa’s blacksmith, Santa’s toy maker, Santa’s hat maker, and the Post Office. They then had to use their master mapping skills, and answer some questions about their map using cardinal directions.
